Our storm debris contractor is now focusing on collecting in neighborhoods after clearing all the major and minor collector roads.
Please get any debris into the public right-of-way as soon as possible. Crews are about halfway through their first pass through the county and trucks will go by your home more than once.
Remember debris will only be picked up if it is in the public right-of-way. Be sure to separate construction/home debris from tree/limb debris and to keep the debris loose - NO BAGS!
Since 10/3, over 215,000 cubic yards of material has been collected. Right now, the hauler is averaging around 12,000 cubic yards a day and about 200 loads a day. We have over 40 units running daily and a lot of area to cover. Thank you for your continued patience!
Remember these important points:• Place your debris in the public right-of-way, away from the road and permanent objects like trees, mailboxes, storm drains, and power lines.
• All storm debris needs to be loose, NOT bagged.
• Separate debris into 3 piles: (1) vegetative debris(2) inert building materials(3) furniture, mattresses, clothing, and other building materials, like drywall and pressure-treated wood
• Don’t mix your hurricane debris with your regular garbage.
• They WILL go by your house more than once over the next few weeks.
• Hurricane debris is not collected by our local hauler and the rules for storm debris collection are different than normal yard and bulk waste collection. If you mix your hurricane debris with your regular garbage, your household garbage, yard, or bulk waste will not be picked up!
• Tipping fees are suspended through Nov. 15 for residents wishing to bring any material out to the Landfill at 12700 Arbuckle Creek Road in Sebring.
