NOTICE OF VACANCY
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY AFFORDABLE HOUSING ADVISORY COMMITTEE
The Board of County Commissioners of Okeechobee County, Florida is seeking interested residents of Okeechobee County for appointment to the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee. Two vacant positions are available. Terms are for two years. If possible, member positions should be filled with citizens representing the banking/mortgage lending industry, labor, low income advocate, not-for-profit housing provider, residential home builder and citizen/lay person. Applications for appointment to a Citizen Board or Committee may be obtained from the County Administrator’s Office at 304 NW 2nd Street, Okeechobee, Florida 34972; or downloaded from www.co.okeechobee.fl.us. Completed applications, along with proof of residency in Okeechobee County and evidence of eligibility where applicable, must be submitted to the County Administrator’s Office no later than Thursday, November 10, 2022.
The Board of County Commissioners appreciates the time and assistance all the Citizen Boards and Committees give to the Board of County Commissioners and to the citizens of Okeechobee County.
The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee seeks local business professionals and residents of Okeechobee County, who actively seek ways to improve, encourage and facilitate affordable housing throughout the County. The Committee is responsible for recommending revisions or amendments to the Local Housing Plan, a plan that is periodically updated and approved by the Board of County Commissioners. The Committee works with the Affordable Housing Coordinator and the State Housing Initiative Program.
The Committee consist of 8–11 members and should include members representing the real estate profession, local planning agency, banking/mortgage lending industry, a citizen lay person, a provider of essential services, a resident of our county, a not-for-profit housing provider, a for-profit housing provider, a residential home builder, a low-income advocate, and a laborer.
All completed applications will be placed on the BOCC agenda for board consideration in November or December.
