Okeechobee City issued the following announcement on February 6.
**Public Information Release Regarding Police Activity**
From the office of Okeechobee City Police Chief Donald Hagan:
The Okeechobee City Police Department was working a death investigation in the area of NW 2nd Street; 1000 blk. There is no danger to the community, and the investigation was contained to the location.
Due to this being an ongoing investigation, The Okeechobee Police Department will not be releasing the single victim's name or circumstances out of respect for the family.
