Highlands County Board of County Commissioners, Government issued the following announcement on February 11.
The Sebring Parkway Phase II project is moving along.
Northbound lanes between U.S. 27 and DeSoto Road and the intersection of Youth Care Lane are being primed today. Prime protects the road base from rain and light traffic before paving happens. A prime coat is an application of an asphalt cutback or emulsified asphalt (see the photo).
Paving is scheduled to happen in the next 7-10 days, and by the end of the month, northbound Phase IIB lanes and the YCL intersection will be open to traffic. At that time, crews will switch over to work in the southbound lanes in the IIB project area (U.S. 27 to DeSoto Road).
The entire Sebring Parkway Phase II project is expected to be complete by the end of October.
