Okeechobee County Florida issued the following announcement on September 8.

PUBLIC NOTICE offering citizens the opportunity to comment on proposed grant applications for the Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program’s competitive solicitation

Comment period begins Wednesday, September 8, 2021 and ends Thursday, September 16, 2021.

                 for Rebuild Florida Grants

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Okeechobee County is offering citizens the opportunity to comment on the proposed grant application for the Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program’s competitive solicitation issued by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). This program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) to address unmet infrastructure needs related to the protection of critical facilities. The projects identified below are being considered for application. The program does not require matching funds from the County.

Project No. 1 –  Berman Road; Funding Request: $17,252,358

Funding will be used to maintain access to the solid waste facility. Activities will consist of improving the roadway and stormwater elements to prevent flooding

Project No. 2 – Disaster Shelter at Agri-Center; Funding Request: $12,000,000

Funding will be used to construct a new disaster shelter and multi-purpose facility.

The meeting will be conducted at the following date, time and location:

Time:  2:00 p.m.

Location: Okeechobee County Historic Courthouse at 304 NW 2nd Street, Room 201, Okeechobee, Florida 34972.

The required comment period begins on September 8, 2021 and ends on September 16, 2021. All comments must be submitted to dwhitehead@co.okeechobee.fl.us and received no later than close of business on September 16, 2021, to be included with the application package that will be submitted to the State of Florida.
