Highlands County Board of County Commissioners, Government issued the following announcement on September 4.
The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Ruskin has issued a Flood Advisory for...Northeastern Hardee County in central Florida...Southwestern Polk County in central Florida...West Central Highlands County in south central Florida Southeastern Hillsborough County in west central Florida.
* Until 1000 PM EDT.
* At 759 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...Sebring, Wauchula, Lake Placid, Sylvan Shores, Fort Meade, Bowling Green, Crewsville, Lake Josephine and Placid Lakes.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
