FOIA Request to South Florida State College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to South Florida State College. This request seeks detailed information about the presence and support of Chinese National students at the college.

The request specifically asks for documents or lists that identify all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. If such details are protected, we have requested a total count of these students broken down by department.

Additionally, we are seeking information on scholarships awarded to these students. This includes the amount each student receives and the source of these scholarships. In particular, we are interested in any scholarships associated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Furthermore, our request extends to policies or procedures that the university has in place for monitoring students, including those who are Chinese Nationals, to safeguard intellectual property and other confidential information.

This inquiry is conducted on behalf of Okeechobee Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As members of the media dedicated to uncovering governmental actions and promoting transparency, we believe this information is crucial for public knowledge and accountability. We have also requested a fee waiver due to our role in disseminating news to the public.
